Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 28, at St. Catherine's Chapel. A private burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Virginia was born August 27, 1920, in Daisy, Oklahoma. At the age of six months, she was adopted by her paternal aunt and uncle, J.W. and Etta Neece. Her early childhood was spent in Dallas. Then her family moved to Waco, where she graduated from Waco High School in 1938. After attending Baylor University for a semester, she transferred to Abilene Christian College, where she met her future husband, the late Dr. Willis E. “Bill” Kirk. They were married in Waco on August 3, 1940. They had their first daughter, Jeanne, the following year. After the war, Bill, Virginia, and Jeanne went back to Abilene, where Bill completed his degree. He and Virginia then spent 20 years serving Churches of Christ in Kansas, Texas and Connecticut. While in Connecticut, they had a second daughter, Joan, in 1957. After his years as a minister, Bill decided to pursue college administration, serving colleges in Oklahoma City and then in Dallas. Virginia was a faithful support all those years. She was known for her famous smile, beautiful red hair and hospitality. After retirement, Bill and Virginia returned to Waco, back to Virginia’s home town. They were long time members of Crestview Church of Christ, serving in many ways. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Betty June Barkley and Emma Ruth Scott. She is survived by her two daughters, Jeanne Masters of Canton, Texas, and Joan Heffner of North Richland Hills, Texas; two sons-in-law, Dr. James Masters and Peter Heffner; three granddaughters, Jenni Condra and husband, Steve, Joy McDonald and husband, Scott, and Brianna Heffner; four great grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan Condra and Morgan and Logan McDonald; and many nieces and nephews who called her “Aunt Ginna.” The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial Guestbook” at www.WHBfamily.com.
