Wallace E. Brooks July 4, 1928 - January 26, 2009 Wallace Elmer Brooks, 80, of Waco passed away Monday, January 26, 2009, at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, TX. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 30, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Wallace was born July 4, 1928, to Edward Pine and Lillie Mayhugh Brooks. He graduated from La Vega High School and attended accounting classes at Baylor. He later graduated from The American Institute of Banking AIB School at The University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in March, 1952. He received basic training and eight weeks advanced training at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX. He spent the remaining time as company clerk in Bingen, Germany and received an honorable discharge in March, 1954, as Sgt. Brooks. He was a past president of The Waco Jaycees and also past board member of The Salvation Army. He enjoyed all kinds of sports and traveling; but most of all he enjoyed their triple A-frame at Lake Mexia that they had built with help from neighbors, friends and relatives, or anyone else that stopped by. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by a wife, a sister, a sister-in-law and many loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are nephews: Collin Brooks, Jr., Richy Brooks, Larry Brooks, John Brooks, Tim Brooks and Zachary Brooks. Honorary pallbearers are members of his Crusaders Sunday School Class.
