Walter Randolph ''Pat'' Patton, Jr.

PATTON, JR. WALTER R. Walter R. Pat Patton, Jr., age 79 of China Spring went to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 29, 2003. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am Wednesday, July 2 at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. Melvin Dornack officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North with military honors. Rosary will be recited at 6pm, Tuesday, July 1 with Rev. David Leibham officiating with visitation to follow at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. He was born June 23, 1924 to Walter R. and Vera Edna Patton in Teague. He married his wife, Mary M. Wagner on January 12, 1946. He was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart. He and Mary owned and operated a dairy for over 20 years in the China Spring area. Later he retired from the Road and Bridge Department of McLennan County. Pat loved to be with his family and after retirement enjoyed gardening and sharing the harvest with their friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. He is survived by three daughters, Julia Black and husband George, Betty Shotwell and husband Rick, Janie Walker and husband Jimmy all of China Spring; six grandchildren, Elaine De Los Santos and husband Jimmy, Paul Stanford and wife Peggy, Missy Stried and husband Kyle, Michael Stanford and wife Alyce, Randy Mathews and wife Diana, Bryan Smith and wife Karrie; four step-grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren; sister, Lela Belle Matto and brother, Billy Patton and wife Nelda and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Paul Stanford, Randy Mathews, Bryan Smith, Jimmy De Los Santos, Kyle Stried, and Norman Hammons. Special thanks to Hillcrest Hospice and the Nurses and Staff on the 7th floor of Hillcrest Medical Center.
