Wanda Rhea Plymate May 31, 1923- November 21, 2006 Wanda Rhea Plymate, 83, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2006 in Austin, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, at Lakewood Christian Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Wanda Rhea Wanser Plymate was born in Pampa, Texas on May 31, 1923 to Sterling and Bea Wanser. She had an active childhood with her two sisters and spoke often of family vacations taken to the beach at Port Aransas, Texas. After graduating from Amarillo High School, she attended Draughon’s School of Business and became the whiz typist that later helped her two daughters with countless “projects”. On July 1, 1944, she married Robert F. Plymate at Chanute Field in Illinois and embarked upon her journey as all-time greatest wife, homemaker, Mom, and Grandmother. She lived in Roswell, New Mexico until Robert’s return from serving on Guam in WWII and over the next 62 years they lived and loved and laughed in Plainview, Texas, Chickasha, Okla., Topeka, Kansas, and Franklin, Tennessee. While Wanda lived in Topeka, Kansas in the mid 1960’s to the mid 1970’s, she was the church secretary at Countryside United Methodist Church. In 1986 they retired in Waco, Texas. Wanda has two daughters, Rhonda and Patti, who finally gave her two grandchildren Robert Austin and Bonnie Bea. She always liked to joke that her daughter’s husbands, Roger Williams and Tom McEnnis helped a little with her acquisition of Robert and Bonnie. Her love for her husband and family was remarkable. She became a member of Lakewood Christian Church where she enjoyed LOAF and quilting. In the 20 years she lived in Waco, she was blessed with many friends and will be immensely missed by all who knew her. She loved cross-stitching, studying wildflowers, and bird-watching and she gave the best hugs. Due to complications from pneumonia Wanda passed away on November 21, 2006.
