Wanda Pickens, 84, of Waco passed away at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Services will be Friday, May 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey with Lester Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey. Wanda was born September 13, 1936 in Mena, Arkansas to Quincey and Eunice Mayo. Wanda attended school at LaVega ISD. In February of 1952 she married the love of her life, Ernest Ray Pickens, Jr. Wanda devoted her life to her family. She was a loving mother and wife, who made her family the most important part of her own life. She loved being outdoors and would spend hours mowing her lawn and growing flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Gerald, Joe and Darrell Mayo; and grandson, Kholton Pickens. She is survived by sister, Linda Ludwig and husband Roger; sons, Ernest Pickens III, Danny Pickens and wife, LuAnn, and Lee Pickens; daughters, Debbie Sherrard and husband, George, Amy Jordan and husband, Ed; eleven grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be, Clay Pickens, Chad Pickens, Brent Sigler, John Norman, Johnnie Badgett and Weston Canuteson. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Deborah R., Wanda’s professional caregiver, Wanda’s granddaughters and Compassus Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
