Wanda Yarbrough passed away Saturday afternoon, January 25, 2025, at the age of 94.
Cryptside services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2025, at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum, with Rev. Charles Robinson officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.
Wanda was born on April 25, 1930, in Waco, Texas, the daughter of the late Homer A. and Grace Lillian (May) Yarbrough. She was a graduate of Waco High School and attended Mrs. Abby’s National School of Business. For over twenty years, she was an active member of Lake Shore United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, was a regular soloist, and served as a trustee. Throughout her life, she enjoyed music, reading, and all animals, especially dogs and cats.
In 1947, she married Morris Booker, and they were blessed with two children: Lynn Ray Booker and Danny Wayne Booker.
For twenty years, she lived in San Antonio, where she was employed as a secretary for an architectural firm. Over time, it was discovered that she had a talent for interior design. Through a good friend who owned furniture stores, she worked for a couple of years and learned many tricks of the interior design trade. In 1984, she returned to Waco, where she opened her own design studio and served her hometown customers until her retirement in 2004.
She was preceded in death by a half-brother, two half-sisters, and her sister.
Survivors include her two sons, Lynn Ray Booker and Danny Wayne Booker; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
