November 13, 1925 — December 15, 2005

Wayne Kincannon November 13, 1925-December 15, 2005 Mr. Wayne Kincannon died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his ranch near Lorena on December 15 at the age of 80. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2005 in the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room, with the Rev. Tom Shelton officiating. Burial will follow at Bruceville Moore Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, December 18 at the funeral home. Mr. Kincannon, the eldest son of Byron and Myrtle Kincannon, was born in Bruceville and raised on a farm near Bruceville-Eddy. He graduated from Bruceville-Eddy High School and went on to study Agronomy at the A&M College of Texas, graduating third in his class in 1946. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets. A child of the Depression, Mr. Kincannon was forever imprinted with a frugal view and an unrelenting work ethic. He had a passion and fascination with all things mechanical, constantly tinkering and repairing. He enjoyed western music, especially Bob Atcher, and he loved all the works of Louis L’Amour. He had a great sense of humor, especially when the practical joke was on someone else. Mr. Kincannon was known to quote Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales without provocation. In August of 1947, he married Virginia Ruth Hendrick at the First Methodist Church in Eddy. They moved to the family farm in Bruceville, where he and Virginia started their family. Wayne farmed and taught Vocational Agriculture at Bruceville-Eddy High School, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Eddy. Wayne enjoyed a successful career in the Agricultural chemical business. He joined Geigy Chemical in 1953 and moved to Lubbock. His success led his family to Stauffer Chemical in North Little Rock, Arkansas and later to Corporate Headquarters in NY, NY in 1965. He was recruited in 1971 to Diamond Shamrock in Cleveland, OH to run the company’s growing agricultural chemicals business. In 1976, he acquired his own company, Bel Chemical and Supply in Schriever, LA and focused primarily on the sugar cane industry. At the age of 58, Wayne sold Bel Chemical, and he and Virginia returned to his family’s farm near Lorena. He avidly pursued his lifelong hobbies of fishing and golf and cheered on his beloved Texas Aggies. Virginia preceded Wayne in death in 1993. Wayne later married his elementary school sweetheart, Louise Appleby McMahan at the First Methodist Church of Eddy. Wayne and Louise traveled widely and enjoyed visiting with life long friends and family. His family and friends from far and near recently came together to celebrate his 80th birthday. Mr. Kincannon noted in the week before his death that he had enjoyed a full life and had no regrets. He is survived by his wife Louise; sons, Kelly and wife, Diana of Berryville, VA and Keith and wife, Pamela of Jasper, TX; a step-daughter, Sharon Fowler, and husband, Marc of Waco; five grandchildren, two step grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and extended family members. His brother, Neal, preceded him in death in 2003. The family encourages friends to make memorials to the Bruceville-Eddy EMS or to their favorite charity. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial Guestbook” at www.wilkirsonhatchbailey.com
