MCNEIL, WEYMOUTH G. MURRAY Weymouth G. Murray McNeil, age 76 of Waco died peacefully in her home Tuesday, March 11, 2003 after a short bout with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Henry Apperson and Sue Wolfe Gohring, Lay Chaplain officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7pm Friday, March 14 at 3517 O’Brien Circle. Ms McNeil, affectionately known as Wey, was born in Los Angeles, California February 18, 1927 to Dr. Gordon and Ernestine Wheatley of Woodland, California. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Occidental College and an Administrative Record Librarian Degree from Berkley, California. For 27 years, Wey was in charge of Medical Records at Woodland Memorial Hospital in Woodland, California. In 1973, she married and moved to Waco. Ms McNeil remained active in the PEO sorority in California and Waco for 53 years, serving as President on three occasions. She learned to fly in her late forties and for five years was co-owner of a plane in Waco. Golf was her first love, having been a member of Ridgewood Country Club for nearly 30 years. She played in many tournaments statewide and was active in the Women’s Golf Association serving in numerous offices. She served one term as President of the Texas State Senior Women’s Golf Association, of which she was a member for 15 years, and as a board member for three years. Ms McNeil was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. Survivors include daughter, Kristeen Murray Wicklund and husband, John of Waco; son, Michael G. Murray and wife, Jan of San Antonio; granddaughter, Lindsey Murray of San Antonio; grandsons, Shawn and Derek Coleman of Dallas, great granddaughters, Shyanne and Jillian; and four stepchildren.
