Wilbur L. Seay October 23, 1923 - November 18, 2009 Wilbur Lawrence Seay, 86, of Waco died Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at the William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home in Temple, Texas, where he resided for the last several months. He previously resided at Providence Park in Waco. Services will be Monday, November 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rosary to be recited by Deacon Greg George at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, with the Msgr. Mark Deering officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Wilbur was born October 23, 1923, in Waco, one of four children, to Henry Woodson and Anna Kleypas Seay. He graduated from Waco High and was always proud to call Waco his home. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving primarily in the Philippines. His battalion rescued POW survivors of the Bataan Death March, 511 men remaining from the original 70, 000 U.S. and Filipino soldiers captured by the Japanese. After his service time, he returned to Waco and worked for Ray Rowell Furniture Company of Waco until his retirement. A devoted Catholic, Wilbur was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, an usher for many years and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1358. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Anna Rose Seay, Ruth Marie Horsak and her husband, Ollie, Mary Roberta "Bo" Leonard and her husband, Earl; a beloved nephew, Richard Horsak; and numerous pet cats, especially Flower, who brought joy to his many neighbors at Providence Park. Having no children of his own, he shared his love of sports, especially football and baseball, with his three nephews and two other special young men that he mentored during his lifetime, Greg Graser and Johnny Rowell. Survivors include two nephews, Cliff Horsak and his wife, Marsha, with their daughters, Reilly and Elise Horsak, all of Dallas; Barry Horsak and his wife, Carolyn, and their son, Ryan and daughter, Kristin, all of Austin; niece, Cathey Horsak of Belton and her son, Scott Horsak and his wife, Sherry, and their son, Kimble, all of Temple. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1401 Washington Ave., Waco TX 76701.
