Wilburn Adolph "Scooter" Koester August 19, 1914 - December 6, 2008 Wilburn Adolph Koester of Waco passed away Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Providence Hospital. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 9 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Pastor Jim Menke officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery . Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.Monday, December 8 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Wilburn was born August 19, 1914 in Riesel, Texas to William and Clara Holle Koester. He was the oldest of eight children who have all preceded him in death. He met and married Lena LaCarter Jank on June 20, 1946. He retired from Southwestern Drug Corporation after 31 years of service. He loved his work and enjoyed working in the yard. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on February 28, 1941, serving overseas in Hawaii and Guam. He was honorably discharged in October of 1945. Wilburn has been a lifelong Lutheran and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Woodway. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Riesel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Louise Koester; parents, William Henry and Clara Louise Koester; five brothers and two sisters one stepson, Kenneth Jank. He is survived by granddaughters, Melinda Scott and Jennifer Jank; step daughter-in-law, Penny Jank; two great-grandsons, numerous and numerous nieces and nephews.
