WILDA E. MORRISS Wilda E. Morriss, 81, of Waco, died Saturday February 7, 2004 at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be 3:00pm Tuesday February 10th at Waco Memorial – North in the Mausoleum Chapel. A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday February 9th from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Wilda was born December 5, 1922 in Corsicana, TX to Louis Earl and Gladyes Darden. After graduation from Purdon High School the family moved to Waco. She worked at Hawk and Buck where she met Gale H. Morriss of Tyler. They were married January 23, 1943. Wilda continued to work until Gale returned from the war. Gale was employed at General Tire over 30 years. Wilda was a seamstress and made many of the University High School Highlighter uniforms in 1965 and 1966. She was the manager of a local theatre for many years. Wilda was employed at Baylor University in the Moody Library for 19 years. She enjoyed crafts and participated in the Apple Tree Bazaar and other craft shows. She was a Methodist. Her pride and joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gale Morriss in 1990, and beloved son Randy E. Morriss in 1994. Survivors: Daughters; Judy Peters and husband Stan of Waco, Terry Lechler and husband Doyle of Waco Daughter in Law; Nancy Morriss of Stockbridge, GA Sister;Bobbie Lake of Corsicana Brother in Law; Bishop Morriss and wife Margaret of Lake Palestine, TX Grandchildren; Aaron Peters and wife Stephanie, Kathryn Haferkamp and husband Billy, Steven Peters and wife Amanda, Matthew Lechler, Nancy Lancaster and husband Chris of Bonaire, GA Great Granddaughters; Blaine Peters and Kelly Lancaster Pallbearers will be Aaron Peters, Steven Peters, Billy Haferkamp, Matthew Lechler, Johnny Lake, and David Dunn Many thanks to Quality Care and their staff for the support and care for Our Mom.
