The Rev. William August Anderson February 15, 1928 - January 18, 2008 The Rev. William August Anderson of Waco passed away Friday, January 18, 2008. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with The Rev. Paul Krupicka officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, January 21, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Rev. Anderson was born February 15, 1928 in Beaumont, TX to William and Sophie Anderson. He was a graduate of Beaumont High School and Texas Lutheran University in Seguin. He was always proud of the fact that he received the first Bachelors Degree from Texas Lutheran after it became a senior college in 1948. He then attended Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa where he met Barbara, his wife of 54 years. Following graduation he was ordained as a pastor in the Lutheran Church on September 13, 1953. He faithfully served as pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Georgetown from 1953 to 1956 and Christ Lutheran Church in Waco from 1956 until his retirement in 1993. After retirement he and Barbara became members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Waco. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Anderson of Waco; sons, Stephen Anderson and wife, Cathy of Seguin, TX; and Nathan Anderson and wife, Sharon of Cypress, TX; four grandchildren, Erika and Ian Anderson of Seguin and Ryan and Evan Anderson of Cypress; brother, Edwin Anderson and wife, Betty Sue of Nederland, TX. Pallbearers are grandsons Ryan Anderson, Evan Anderson and Ian Anderson; nephews Mark Anderson and Craig Anderson; and brother-in-law Jack Schaefer. Honorary pallbearers are Weldon Smith, Larry Henrichs, Mark Vinciguerra, and George Fischer. Memorials may be made to Texas Lutheran University and St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
