BALLARD, WILLIAM BILL William Bill Ballard, age 57 of Waco died Thursday, April 1, 2004. Memorial services will be held at 1:30pm Sunday, April 4 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Bill grew up in Uvalde, Texas with his lifelong friends, Richard Edwards and Don Smith. He graduated from Texas Christian University where he met his devoted wife of 33 years, Deborah King of Waco. He served as president of Able Irrigation in Uvalde for over 30 years, where he raised his own family. He retired in 1998 and moved with his wife back to her childhood home of Waco. Shortly thereafter, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 53. He and his wife both championed Alzheimer’s research until Bill was unable to participate due to the ravages of the disease. He will not be forgotten by the many that loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Ballard, Sr. and Eleanor Ballard. Survivors include wife, Debbie Ballard of Waco; daughter, Leah Ballard of Dallas; sons, Jeff Ballard of Dallas and Ray Ballard and wife, Stacy of Waco; brother, Barry Ballard and wife, Hildegarde of Houston; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joanne and Bert King of Waco.
