Bill, son of William Colbert Bogusch, Sr. and Marjorie Malinda Rosenbaum Bogusch, was born in Austin on May 6, 1952. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1970. Shortly after starting at the University of Texas, he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Although he did not serve overseas, he continued to serve for over two decades in the Army Reserves. Bill was lovingly known to his army buddies as "Bo.” His service period was a significant chapter in his life, and it instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and camaraderie. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He remained a lifelong UT Longhorn fan and cheered them on every chance he could.
Bill was a talented individual who commenced his career in home construction during his early years. He later transitioned to a successful marketing career for commercial property insurance, from which he enjoyed early retirement in the 1990s. His dedication to his work exemplified his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family.
An outdoor enthusiast at heart, Bill found solace and joy in nature. He relished moments spent hunting and managing a hunting lease at the Miman Ranch near Johnson City. His faith in God was a cornerstone of his life, and he often reflected on the tranquility that the outdoors brought him. Whether working with his hands or simply enjoying the beauty around him as he worked in his yard, he felt most at peace when surrounded by nature. Bill also enjoyed woodworking, leather work, building and flying model airplanes.
Bill was set up on a blind date with his future wife, Linda Susan Cox, in the early '70's. She caught him off guard when she arrived early, and he was still working on his car. All greased in his overalls, he convinced his friends to drive her around Austin while he got ready for their first date. Worth the wait!
Bill is remembered for his unwavering love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Linda; his daughter, Melissa Miller and husband, Steve. Survivors also include his three siblings whom he loved dearly - Linda Camp Jones and husband, Larry; Charles "Charlie" Bogusch and wife, Annette; and Paul Bogusch and wife, Angelina. Additionally, he leaves behind his adoring grandson, William "Willie" Miller, who will miss his "G-Bo" dearly, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Tom Camp.
Bill will be remembered not only for his accomplishments and passions but for the love he bestowed upon his family and friends. His journey exemplified integrity, perseverance, and determination, leaving a lasting legacy for his family. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
