Bill was born on March 22, 1934, in Galveston, Texas, to Ava Manning David and Rev. Vernon Leroy David. Shortly after Bill's birth, his family moved to Argentina where the David's continued their missionary work with the Southern Baptist Missions. He loved his experiences growing up as "Missionary Kid" in Cordova. Upon his arrival in the United States, Bill learned English while attending San Marcos Baptist Academy and graduated from Harlingen High School. Bill then followed in his family's footsteps and attended Baylor University and then served his country in the United States Air Force. Bill also obtained a degree from Trinity University, and his Masters in Education Administration from Texas A&I. Bill enjoyed his years teaching in the classroom but he really cherished his years as Elementary Principal. Most days he spent his lunch time on the playground playing four-square, and it was not unusual for him to walk in a classroom, send the teacher out, and just enjoy teaching a lesson. He continued his career in Education until he retired as superintendant. Bill had an incredible bond with his siblings a brother and two sisters and, being the baby of the family, an even greater relationship and cherished memories with his nieces and nephews. During his retirement, Bill loved traveling, being a grandfather, playing golf, dominos, attending Bible Study and supporting Baylor sporting events, especially Softball and Women's Basketball. He was the recipient of the "Tori Birk-Luke Bear Award" for the 2014 year. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy David and wife, Freddie David; sisters, Ava Bessie Pearson, Georgia Bachor; and nieces, Helen Ginny Bachor and Rory David. Bill is survived by his son and wife, Anthony Tony and Kristi David, of Rio Hondo; daughter and husband, Veronica and Bryan McDonough, of Waco, and daughter, Ava David, of El Paso. Bill has six grandchildren; Kelsea Johnson and husband, Cody, of Schulenburg, Trevor David and wife, Ashley, of Harlingen, Kenny Schroeder of Houston, and Cody, Will and Emry McDonough, of Waco. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was very proud to welcome his first great grandchild in October, Taft David Johnson. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Waco or Baylor University Softball Excellence Fund.
