Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Groesbeck, Texas, where his father owned and operated the Aman Ralston-Purina Feed and Seed Store and Broiler Farms for over 65 years. Bill spent his childhood years in Groesbeck, graduating from its high school in 1949. He began his college days at Westminister Junior College, but transferred during his freshman year to Baylor University at Waco, where he met his future wife, Jo Ann. In May of 1953, he married Jo Ann Payne, who was also attending Baylor University. After receiving his BBA degree in May of 1954, they moved to Groesbeck where he was employed by his father in the family business. By 1960, Bill moved back to Waco, where he was employed by the Citizen's National Bank, while again attending Baylor University and working toward a graduate degree. He received his MA degree with honor and began teaching government and history. From 1967 to 1995, Bill taught in the classrooms of Connally, Waco and finally Midway Independent School Districts with distinction. He retired in 1995, having received many accolades from parents, peers and students. He received Midway High School's Outstanding Teacher Award. His last teaching post was at Baylor University where he directed and taught student teachers for several years. Throughout his life, Bill served in the Lord's church where there was a need to be filled. He was a leader of congregational worship and was known for his beautiful, melodic tenor voice. On occasion, he filled the teacher's podium, pew and pulpit with grace and truth. Bill's one driving aim was to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant; enter into the joys of your Lord." William is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jo Ann; daughter Micah Starr Aman Goode Weaver and husband, Sam; two grandsons, Michael Glenn Goode, Jr. and wife, Amy, and William Buchanan Goode; two great grandchildren, William Taylor and Brooke Tyler Goode.
