William Donald Fox

William Donald Fox, born on September 17, 1940, passed away at his home on June 6, 2024. A Celebration of Life honoring Bill will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 at Olive Branch Restaurant in River Square Center at 215 S 2nd Street downtown Waco. Graveside service will be at 10:00 on Wednesday morning, June 19, 2024, at Waco Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Steve Heyduck.

Born in Beaumont, Texas, Bill moved between Waco and Cleburne before graduating from Midway High School in 1959. In 1978, Bill married Billye Ruth Flynn and became a permanent Waco resident. Bill worked in the automotive parts business before retiring as owner of Modern Auto Parts.

Those preceding Bill in death include his brother, Jimmy Fox and brother-in-law, J.T. Alewine.

Bill is survived by his wife, Billye Ruth; sister, Barbara Alewine of Malakoff; and sister-in-law, Shirley Fox of Cleburne. Uncle Billy enjoyed sharing in the lives of two nieces, Rene Sorenson and husband, Mike of Mineola; Karen Redding and husband, Ron of Joshua; and two nephews, Keith Fox and wife, Pam of Cleburne; Kevin Alewine and wife, Karen of Elgin. Bill had great fun being “Poppy” to Angela Love and her daughters, Hagen and Taylor.

Bill loved many facets of life-being with family, visiting with friends, working in his yard, keeping his car spotless, and giving priority treatment to pets, his or anyone else’s. One of his passions was enjoying sweets, especially cheesecake, apple pie, vanilla ice cream and all things chocolate.

Bill will be remembered by friends and family as a kind, caring, and entertaining man. Being around Bill meant one would be teased with delightful banter.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Woodway First United Methodist Church or an organization that supports dogs and cats.
