HERREN, MELINDA ANN HERREN, WILLIAM DREW Melinda Ann Herren, 29, and William Drew Herren, 31, of Pueblo, Colorado, died in a tragic automobile accident on Saturday, December 29, 2001, near Axtell, Texas. Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd., with the Rev. Ben Disney and Rev. Jo Heyduck officiating. Burial will follow at Riesel Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2002. Mindy was born September 23, 1972 in Waco, Texas to Richard Vernon Denney and Rita Joyce Boatwright Denney. Drew Herren was born in Groesbeck , Texas on February 23, 1970 to parents James Clyde Herren and Don Ella Jowers Herren. Mindy and Drew attended Connally High School in Waco, Texas and graduated in 1992 and 1989, respectively. Soon after, they married and started a family in Waco, Texas. Mindy worked at Texas State Technical College and Drew held several positions at Sam’s Wholesale Club. Drew later went on to complete higher education courses at Texas State Technical College and received a degree in the field of Laser Technology during the spring of 2000. After Drew’s graduation from TSTC, the couple and their three children moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where Drew obtained employment as a Laser Technician with the Intel Computer Corp. and Mindy devoted her time to the growth of their three children. At the time of the accident, the Herren’s were in Waco for the holidays visiting their friends and family. Mindy embodied everything that a loving mother should be in life, devoting all of her time and resources to her family and three children. She had a zest for life and a passionate heart for beautiful things such as the mountains, snow, and little children. Mindy saw her dream of living in the Colorado Mountains and having a white Christmas come true before her passing. Besides being a loving father to three children, a loyal husband and a devout friend to many, Drew enjoyed all outdoor activities, motorcycle riding, traveling, music, and socializing with his many friends. Drew’s heart was even larger than hi 6’5” frame. He had many friends that he stayed loyal to throughout the years, regardless of the miles that separated them. Drew also saw his many dreams come true within the last couple of years including the full restoration of his first 1978 Chevrolet truck, his graduation from college and the building of his family’s first new home in Colorado. Drew and Mindy had begun to find their place in life and were recognizing the unlimited potential they had as a family. They were loving parents, and sincere friends that will be missed by many. They left behind their children, Dylan Taylor Herren, 9, Brian Cole Herren, 7, and Katelyn Katy Drew Herren, 5. Mindy is survived by father, Rick Denney, mother Rita Denney, of Waco, Texas, sister Jamie Goodnight and husband Charlie Goodnight of Mart, Texas, sister Renee’ Weck and husband Richard Weck of Houston, Texas, brother Rick Denney of Waco, Texas, and 2 nephews and 1 niece. Drew is survived by his father James Herren, of Alabama, mother, Don Ella Jowers, of Waco, Texas, stepfather, Steve Jowers, brother, Ashley Herren, of Waco, grandmother, Don Garrett, of Groesbeck, Texas, grandmother, Eva Herren, of Alabama. Pallbearers will be Tracy Marshall, Jerry Reay, Jeremy Humphrys, Edward Ward, David Hodnett, Jeff Beck, Sean Pullan, and Jody Pippin. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Puga, Carlos Rodriguez, and friends at Sam’s Wholesale Club and the Intel Computer Corp. A trust has been established for the children at Educator’s Credit Union.
