CARROLL, WILLIAM EDWARDS Bill Carroll “Zeddie”, age 59, of Waco passed peacefully from this life Thursday, May 1, 2003 after a short bout with cancer, with his family by his side. Services will be held at 4pm Saturday, May 3 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Janne Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Arrangements are through Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Carroll was born in Waco May 2, 1943 to Z. Z. Zeddie and Cleo Edwards Carroll. He attended Lake Waco Elementary, North Jr. High, and Waco High, and then graduated from Reicher in 1962. He attended North Texas State University. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He worked at Steakley Brothers Chevrolet and then at Frank Weaver Pontiac for 18 years. He retired from the car service department in July 1999. Zeddie enjoyed drag racing. In 1964, he drove “The Little Old Wine Maker”, breaking records and winning many trophies, with the help of his buddies. He was on the men’s state bowling team, loved to dove hunt, shoot his 357 magnum and had a special love for the Texas Rivers. He married Donna Golden October 22, 1971. During their marriage, they were blessed with two children, Nick and Amanda. Zeddie was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include son, Nick and wife, Tina, precious daughter, Amanda, former wife, Donna, cousins, a host of friends and all his pals. Pallbearers will be Tommy Husbands, Joe Bob Smith, Wade Rooks, Jeff Ward, Tony Martin, Christopher Martin, Hunter Hoffman, Gary Butler, and Jerry Cowan. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Providence Hospice. The family would also like to thank Providence Hospice for their care and compassion and to give special thanks to Sharon Gordon.
