Rose, William William Emory Kingsbury Rose went to be with the Lord on August 8, 2005 from his home in Waco. A memorial service will be at 1:30 PM Wednesday, August 10 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey funeral home with Rev. Steve Ramsdell officiating. A private burial will be held. Visitation for friends and family will be from 7 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, August 9 at the funeral home, 6101 Bosque. Emory was born on a plantation near South Benoit, Mississippi, September 5, 1912 to Charles Columbus and Judith Isabelle Gee Rose. He married Kathryn Corning in 1920 and they were blessed with two children Kathryn and William, Jr. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Emory was determined to serve his country in the military, so when he was turned downed because of a severe knee injury, he obtained employment with the American Red Cross serving the servicemen in many ways including being contact for the troops with their families. He served with the 28th Marine Regimen and the 3rd Army Division, accompanying them during the taking of several Pacific islands. In the years after WWII, he was Sales Manager for Stoneville Pedigreed Seed Company, serving the entire cotton-growing world, including the Southern United States, South America and Spain. He came to Waco in 1969 to join Success Motivation Institute, where he served as International Vice President, traveling to Europe, the British Isles and Canada until he “retired” in 1980. In 1981, he joined Bruce Mazzare at Management Development Systems and Emory traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada conducting seminars and assisting companies in the development of their managers and employees. During his years in Waco, Emory was very active in Civic Organizations, being Knight Commander of the Court of Honor of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Downtown Rotary Club and served on the Board of Caritas. Emory and his wife “Katie” were associated with the Waco Civic Theater, with Emory performing in several roles during the early 80’s. He was a faithful Methodist, having been a member of Central United Methodist and First United Methodist Church of Waco where he taught the Mary and Joseph Sunday School Class for many years and in the last few years was a member of the O’Dell Dudley Class. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Kathryn “Katie”, his second wife of ten years, Barbara, his son, William, Jr. and his granddaughter, Kim Parker Wolverton. He is survived by his wife of 5-1/2 years, Edie; daughter, Kathryn “Kit” and husband Joe Parker of Natchez, Mississippi and daughter-in-law, Ann Rose of Duncanville, Texas; grandchildren, William Rose, III of New York City, Sandy Carpenter of Jacksonville, Florida, Jennifer Keener of Duncanville, Texas, Wheeler Parker of Madison Mississippi, Karen Rosales of Dallas, Texas and Kathryn “Katie” Aiken of Jackson, Mississippi and nine great grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Waco or Caritas of Waco.
