"It's All About The Journey" - Joel is the son of the late William J Cox Jr and Carol Jean Arnold Cox and lived in Waco his entire life. He graduated in 1974 from Richfield High School where he was involved in the band and played the alto sax. He was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church and was also involved in the Royal Ambassador program and the Boy Scout Troop. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet Joel knew he had a very quick wit and loved to have fun. He loved camping at the lake and more importantly fishing especially with his dad on the Colorado River. He was a servant, always happy and ready to lend his 'McGyver' hand to any project. Soon after Joel married Tami King Earley in 1995, God delivered a verse that would define their walk together. Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." They opened an automotive shop, Kiss Automotive in Waco. Joel was a talented mechanic and could diagnose problems quickly always priding himself in getting the job done right the first time. Many a customer trusted him fully and he became more that just a mechanic but a forever friend. God made a way for Joel to be a radio DJ on the local American Family Radio station with 'The Journey' radio program after being introduced to southern gospel music by Greater Vision from Tennessee. Traveling to concerts, meeting all the singers and putting his program together was a passion and just one way Joel served his Lord. Joel stated recently, "I can fix your house. I can fix your car. I can fix just about anything but I can't fix this cancer." He gave it over to Jesus and fought the good fight 2 Timothy 4:7. Being treated at the Cancer Treatment Center in Atlanta, Georgia, gave Joel even more opportunity to meet people and inspire them with his faith and happiness. Joel is preceded in death by his father, William J Cox Jr. He leaves behind his soul mate, Tami; his mother, Jean Cox; daughter, Tiffinee Cox of Clute, stepson, Beau Earley and wife, Lacey, of Waco and stepson, Kyle Earley and wife, Nicole, of China Spring; plus nine grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Maley and spouse, Sam, of Colleyville.
