William Ray Davis

William Ray Davis July 28, 1934 February 20, 2009 William Bill Ray Davis, age 74, passed away February 20, 2009. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, at Prairie Hill Baptist Church, Prairie Hill, TX. Burial will follow at Prairie Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., February 26, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. A resident of Houston for 55 years, Mr. Davis spent his younger years in the Delia and Prairie Hill communities. He was the son of the late Tommie Lee Tom Davis and Mrs. Vernice C. Davis. Mr. Davis retired from Shell Oil Company in 1991 after 38 years of service and had remained in a consulting capacity with Shell Oil until his death. He was a member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church; Park Place Masonic Lodge and the Houston Scottish Rite Bodies. He is survived by one brother, James Boyd Ray of Alvarado; three sisters, Mable Reid of Waco, Barbara Jean Morgan of Lorena, and Frances Eckert of Omaha, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Davis had requested that contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
