William T. Bassett September 19, 1923 - December 3, 2008 William T. Bassett of Waco passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2008. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 7 at Mount Olive Baptist Church in King, North Carolina with burial to follow at the church cemetery. William was born September 19, 1923 Grand Prairie, TX to Homer and Cannie Bassett. After served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was active in the defense of our country during Pearl Harbor and Korean conflict; and attained the rank of Lt. Commander. He retired as Chief of Chaplains from the Veterans Administration Regional Hospital in Waco. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Eva Maude Bassett. He is survived by his daughter, Melanie Garrett; grandchildren, Jonathan and Lydia Garrett; and his son, Randall K. Bassett.
