Willie Bell May Harkins, 98, of Waco, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2005. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 18 at Rosemound Cemetery, with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. She was born February 10, 1907 in Lorena, Texas. “Bill” as she preferred to be called was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth L. Harkins, Sr.; sisters, Faye Jones and Pearl Pringle; brothers, Sidney May, Robert W. May and Jasper R. May; and parents, Lewis and Mary Jane May. She will be missed by her son, Kenneth L. Harkins, Jr. and his wife Shirley Harkins; granddaughters, Julie Harkins Skillern and Janice Harkins Gold; and great-grandsons, Randall Kenneth Skillern and Ryan William Skillern; devoted nieces, Dorothy Martin, Jimmie Lee Stelley, Martha Cunningham and Diane Jones. She cherished her family, her home, and was a faithful member of St. John’s United Methodist Church of Waco and active in United Methodist Women. She especially adored her granddaughters, and they fondly reflect upon her faithful correspondence and phone calls over the years, and of course, her chocolate cake.
