THOMAS, WILSON Wilson Thomas, age 84, of Waco passed away Sunday, April 8, 2001 at his home. Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 11th at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Mr. Thomas was born May 20, 1916, in Thornton, TX to James and Arie Anna Thomas. He was the youngest of twelve children. On October 20, 1946, he married Edith Tindell. During the Depression years, Mr. Thomas helped to maintain the family farm after his father died. Mr. Thomas served during World War II in the Army Air Corps where he serviced airplanes, receiving an honorable discharge in 1945. Mr. Thomas then lived for a short while in Conroe, where he worked for the Superior Oil Company. After that he returned to this area and began to work as a car salesman for Ray Thomas Studebakers and later for Ray Thomas Dodge. He was working in downtown Waco during the Tornado of 1953, which he survived but many of his friends did not. In 1965, Mr. Thomas began to sell used cars at Ray Thomas Motors, located on Franklin Avenue. He was known by his many customers for his friendliness, his sense of humor, and his dedication to honesty. Mr. Thomas was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include: His wife of 54 years, Edith Thomas, Daughters: Debbie Nowakowski and husband, Tom of Garland, Marsha Money and husband, Rudy of Bruceville, Grandchildren: Jennifer Nowakowski, Jason Nowakowski, and Christopher Money, Great grandchild: Jordan Elizabeth Nowakowski.
