Wilson Truett Lindsey October 6, 1921 May 25, 2015 Wilson Truett Lindsey of Woodway was born on October 6, 1921, in Erath, Texas, to Josiah and Minnie Lindsey. He went to meet his Savior face to face on Monday, May 25, 2015. His memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, at First Baptist Church of Waco with Dr. Matt Snowden officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a private family burial. Truett graduated from Waco High School in 1940, then served in the United States Army Air Force for four years during World War II. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 36 years and served nine years on the Midway ISD school board. Truett was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Waco for over 60 years, where he directed youth Sunday School departments, was a devoted member of the McCall Sunday School class and served as a deacon. Truett was instrumental in reopening and developing Whitehall Cemetery, where he served as caretaker. He worked hard taking care of his yard with perfection and he loved a good game of golf. He also walked several miles a day with his dog, Maggie. He was a long-time member of the Baylor Bear Foundation and enjoyed following Baylor athletics for over 50 years. More than anything, Truett loved his family and spending time with them. He married Theresa Slovak on February 19, 1956, and together they had three children, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was an affectionate "Pepaw" to all. He loved to tease, to help anyone in need and never took life too seriously. He is survived by his wife, Theresa; sons, Tom Lindsey and wife, Janet, of Woodway, Steve Lindsey and wife, Alicia, of Ft. Worth; and daughter, Margaret Blackmon and husband, Steve, of Frisco. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kylie Higgins and husband, Ronny, of McGregor, Annesa Scott and husband, Gabe, of Houston, Emily Field and husband, Thomas, of Hewitt, Stephen Lindsey, Jr., Jennifer Lindsey and Elizabeth Lindsey of Ft. Worth and Lauren Blackmon of Frisco. His great-grandchildren are Hudson, Avery, Eli and Josiah Higgins, Harper and Scarlett Scott and Crew Field. Pallbearers are Stephen Lindsey, Jr., Ronny Higgins, Gabe Scott and Thomas Field. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Waco or to Whitehall Cemetery Association 340 Whitehall Rd, Woodway, TX 76712.
