Zita Johnston, 80 years old, passed away on January 2, 2017. Visitation with the family will be 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., Saturday January 7, at the Johnston residence. For the address, please contact the family directly. Zita was born in Billigheim, Germany, on March 19, 1936. She grew up and lived in Germany for many years. She married William Johnston in 1956. Zita Johnston was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother not only to her biological family but to anyone in need of love. Zita fostered children in her home throughout the years and provided a safe and loving home to children in need. She and her family traveled the U.S. while her husband, William, pursued his career in the military. Zita was known for making any house a home and was an attentive/involved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. The family eventually settled in Waco, Texas in 1974. Her hobbies included pulling pranks, spending time with family, playing cards, talking to her friends, and playing Parcheesi. Zita was a strong, loving woman who has given her family, friends, and community many memories that will be treasured forever. Zita is preceded in death by her father, Karl Eitelwein; her mother, Marie Nuss Eitelwein; her brothers, Gerhart and Karl; and her sisters, Elsa, Brunhilda (Bonnie) and Marie. Zita is survived by her husband, William Johnston. She is also survived by her brother, Oswald. Zita is survived by her children, Pete Johnston and his wife, Sarah, Cindy Johnston, and Mindy Pick; her grandchildren, Shannon Galloway and his wife, Tonya, Pete Johnston, Jr., and Megan Pick; and her great-grandchildren: Micayla, Jordan, Cody, Landyn, Kynsley, and Elle.
